As part of its Research Area I, Theme 1, EDDA has started collaboration with the interdisciplinary network Praxeology of the Body, which is funded by the German Science Council. The research of this group consists in contributing to the so-called practical turn in understanding embodiment. A critical review of praxeological understanding of embodiment in light of materiality, performativity, discursivity and structure is undertaken. The goal is to rethink praxeological approaches that account for materialistic as well as discursive dimensions and contextualize them within the structures that determine them. Special attention is given to gender, disability and diverse notions of embodiment.

The network organizes an international work-shop in January 2013 at the University of Goettingen in Germany: “Body-Power-Gender. Rethinking the Practice Turn“.
