Objectives

As a venue for contemporary research, with emphasis on equality and diversity, the EDDA Center seeks critical contributions in the fields of history, literary criticism and cultural studies, philosophy, gender studies, anthropology, politics, and international relations.

Project Objectives:

  • To stimulate new critical thinking and methods in the humanities and social sciences;
  • To promote and support research activities, to offer research grants and to provide academic facilities;
  • To become a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration between academics, policy makers, governmental institutions, non-state and corporate actors.
  • To expand academic research networks and activities in Iceland and abroad;
  • To be an academic forum for lectures, conferences and workshops as well as being a venue for introducing topics and issues of interest to EDDA, the university and the wider research community;
  • To be a public forum for lectures, debates, discussions and happenings that address a broad audience designed to foster a dialogue between the academic community and society;
  • To have an impact on knowledge production in academic research and on public policy and societal developments.

 

EDDA´s Academic Forum offers lectures, conferences and workshops that have to do with the research done within EDDA or in collaboration with its partners, as well as being a venue for introducing topics and issues of interest to the work of EDDA and the university and research community.

EDDA´s Public Forum is a venue for lectures, debates, discussions and happenings that address a broad audience. This is consistent with one of EDDA’s goals which is to foster a dialogue between the academic community and society. The Public Forum is a space for discussing topical social and political issues in which the public is engaged or confronted with.
